Finding clients that you love, with an amazing product that also takes you on epic adventures is a rare find, but I found it. Dark Angel Medical is a one of a kind business. I met Kerry and Lynn over a year ago through Instagram and feel so lucky to have found them. Their medical kits go with me on every adventure, and while I’ve yet to use one, I always feel safe knowing it’s with me in a moment of crisis.
We wanted to do something a little different than they had been when it came to their photography. Their product is one with a great story; one that takes adventurers to all sorts of places. We decided to showcase the adventures that the medical kit could go on at all seasons of the year. Their main audience has always been military and police, for good reason, but we wanted to branch out into their market and showcase all the ways this kit could be used. Accidents happen every day, having the kit that could save your life is something everyone should have.
A group of friends were going ice climbing that weekend in Colorado, Springs. We decided to tag along and use them as models as they overcame great heights and slippery slopes. We also picked up some snowshoes from REI ($15 daily rental for 1 pair!) so that we could be sure to get a variety of shots of outdoor winter sports. You’ll see from these photos how easy it can be to tell an amazing story with just some basic creativity and a photographer who knows a few things.
These are the clients I love working with the most. Lifestyle photography, especially in the adventure spectrum, offers so many amazing moments and landscapes. Having a product in an image where it’s being used, and the customer can envision themselves using it that way, is the secret to marketing. Your client wants to see the life that your product or service can give them. My job is to come up with an epic enough story that they’ll grab and hold onto for dear life, while they run off and buy 1 or 2 from you.
Spending the day in the snow, taking pictures, telling stories, and laughing is just the beginning to why I love being an adventure lifestyle photographer. Finding clients like Kerry and Lynn make my job so much fun and finding new and beautiful ways to tell the story of their products is what I live for.
If a picture is worth 1,000 words, what do these photos say to you?
