We met in the middle of Downtown Denver to rent a Cadillac CT6 for our drive to the mountains. Cara (Never Skip Brunch) and I had become fast friends after connecting on Instagram. So fast that in the few months we’ve known each other we’ve worked on 4-5 different projects together, this trip to the mountains included. Care had invited two other blogger friends, Vanessa (Vanessaland) and Brennan (Chase Your Daydream) to join us for this mountain adventure, and really make this a girls day out.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love drives to the mountains. The 1.5-hour drive up to Breckenridge flew by with talks of blogging, building brands, our personal life adventure and just all around girl talk and getting to know each other. I’m always astounded by the ability women have to be put together and automatically connect. Each one of us coming from a different lifestyle with brands we are building that represent different people and different stories, we were still able to hit it off immediately. We had conversations that helped each of us learn new ways to grow and to better reflect ourselves. We discussed the tools we use, the problems we face and the dreams we have for our lives and the work we do. We got deep, real fast, which matched the driving abilities of this way too much fun car.
When you’re used to driving a 2003 Subaru, driving something that’s worth more than everything you own is quite the experience. While it did take a while to get used to it (and 20 minutes to figure out how to adjust the driver’s seat), I will say I could get used to this. With a 6-cylinder engine, backup cameras and a speedometer that projects onto your windshield, how could you not get used to this?
After what felt like minutes of driving through gorgeous scenic views, we arrived in Breckenridge; the sun warm on our skin, and the feeling of Fall just kissing the air. We parked right in front of Vintage Sweet & Chic where these bloggers planned to shop till they dropped. Every dress, shirt, pant and pant suite that you could possibly fall in love with was tried on by these 3 bloggers and I had a field day capturing them as they walked out of the dressing room. Each one of them had a style all their own that they didn’t have a problem matching with the close in this mountain boutique. Outfit after outfit I captured it all until there was nothing left to try on and our appetites had us cashing out and moving on.
The Crown is the perfect place to stop for an amazing cup of coffee (with or without spirits) and grab a quick breakfast or lunch when you’re on the move in Breckenridge. Whether it’s in the summer and you’re just getting done with a nearby 14er or you’ve finished a day of skiing, this is the place to stop and take a breather. Their food was exactly what we needed to get our energy up and their drinks had us melting, or maybe that was the ice cream I couldn’t live without. Either way, we were all thankful to get something in our stomachs before the drive back to Denver.
As we got our bags and headed back to the car I learned that all three girls had never been to Loveland Pass. This epic road takes you all the way up to the top of the mountains and back down dropping you off on I-70. However, along this road are some of the most epic views that will simply, take your breath away. If you haven’t driven this road before, I highly suggest it before the snow gets too high and they shut down the road for the season.
We stopped on the top of the pass for a few quick photos before the rain started. Once the raindrops started to build we hopped back in the car and made our descent back to Denver. Our day in the mountains, with our fun rental car had come to an end. Mountain views, lifestyle photo shoots, amazing meals and fast cars were all in the past. I dropped off the car where we had found it (in its car-sharing parking spot) and we all said our farewells with promises of follow up from all the new things we learned during the car drives.
This amazing trip to the mountains wouldn’t have been possible without Thrillest, who partnered with Never Skip Brunch to show off what you can do on a day trip from Denver. Thankfully I got asked to photograph the experience and come along for the ride!
