He likes chocolate milk, she likes champagne, so a top of the mountain toast made for some interesting photos. But that’s what I love most about Amanda and Jon; they have so much fun just being themselves, making jokes and loving on each other.
As a storyteller, I am privileged to tell adventurous stories, showcase beautiful landscapes and show people what life has to offer them. It’s not very often that I get to add a love story to the mix. Lucky for me, Amanda and Jon didn’t want any old engagement photos, they wanted to showcase the adventurous spirits they both have at the top of a mountain with views that would make anyone jealous. And their wedding? A helicopter elopement in New Zealand this fall. Just the two of them, on some far away mountain on the other side of the world. (You could say I’m a little bit jealous.)
Obviously, this isn’t your average couple. With hearts overflowing with love and souls made for exploring the unknown they needed photos that would match who they are and authentically tell their story. We found an amazing spot at the top of North Table Mesa in Golden, CO where we could capture the scenes that best make their story; picnics in the shade, hiking along saddlebacks, standing on the edge of cliffs and climbing to the top of the mountain for a toast to the next big adventure of their life. We spent the evening hiking, laughing and gasping over amazing views. This could just be one of my all-time favorite shoots from subjects to backdrops, it really did have it all.
Amanda and Jon, congratulations on this huge adventure. I can’t wait to see the photos from New Zealand and to see what adventures you find together as you spend your lives together. Until then, I enjoy these photos of your adventure thus far.
