I’m learning that as an adventure photographer the word adventure has a really broad meaning. From starting falling in love, to start a family or climbing to the base camp of Everest. Adventure is like beauty, it’s in the eye of the beholder. When my mother invited the entire family to a cabin in the mountains for my last weekend in America before I go on my own adventure, I got to share in a family adventure while witnessing the adventures of my family members.
Frisco/Silverthorne sits at 10,000 feet in Altitude, and in just over 1 week I will be at 14,000 feet heading to just short of 20,000 feet where I will summit the base camp of Everest. (And as we speak I am on my way to the airport to go to India to see some sights before Everest). An adventure I’ve been planning and training for, for 6 months. But as one last chance to be with family and enjoy the Colorado mountains, the entire Hutt family came out to get some R&R by the lake in the mountains.
My amazing family and the fall colors make for some great photos. Every time I leave the house I end up asking my boyfriend if I should take my camera and his reply is always “of course, you’ll be so mad when you want to capture a great photo and you can’t.” It’s always a lot of gear to take with me, but at the end of the day, I’m a photographer and I always hate missing the chance to capture an image.
Being a photographer means that there are only a few photos that I ever make it into, so having a mini tripod and a remote in my bag makes things a lot more fun when I want to get a few shots in beautiful places like this.
Leaving this cutie for 3 weeks is not going to be easy, But I’m glad to have a few photos of the two of us to look at while I’m missing him. And if you look in the background and see that tall peak. That’s Mount Quandary – we climbed to the top of that 14er this summer and at the very top was the first time I told him I loved him.
Adventure is out there. And it looks different for everyone, so go find your adventure. Whether that’s moving to a new state, telling someone you love them for the first time, starting a family, taking a weekend in the mountains, or climbing to the base camp of Everest. Whatever sets your soul on fire, and pushes to you to be a new and better you, go do it! And take some pictures along the way. I’d love to see what Adventures you are taking in your life!
